Sked+ Mobile

Brief

An intermediary of ExpressJet, SkyWest and Atlantic Southeast Airlines approached Magora Systems with the idea to develop an Android application for crew members. The app functionality would mirror the existing web service SkedPlus+?tras. A crew member is expected to register at SkedPlus Extras web portal, enter their schedule and crew data, afterwards the schedule will be automatically sychronsied with the airline servers and will refresh the schedule data for every individual crew member. The purpose of the Sked+ Mobile app was to alert pilots and flight attendants of any schedule changes and to facilitate better planning.

Solution

As the client was planning to extend the reach to iOS users in the future, the app had to be easily portable to different platforms. Therefore our team resorted to a Xamarin development environment to create the Android application. It gave us full access to all the native APIs.

Result

Sked+ Mobile is an Android app that allows crew members to view their SkedPlus+ schedule on the phone. The application features three alert services: Open Time Alerts, Reserve Pool Alerts and Updated Schedule Alerts. These Alerts help ASA, ExpressJet and SkyWest Airlines crews plan their working schedules efficiently and save time. Sked+ Mobile encompasses several additional features, which are: one-click weather retrieval, FAA Airport Status Delays, and flight status.
